Our Experience

The Aflac customer service line is similar to other insurance companies. Press 1 if you have an account. If you don’t have an account but you still want to speak to a representative just wait on hold. Eventually your call will be transferred to a customer service agent who will ask for your policy number as soon as they answer the call. It takes more than three minutes to move through the automated system. You will be given the option to enter your phone number for a call back while you are waiting. Our wait time lasted more than six minutes. When we finally reached the Aflac customer service agent we asked for information on Aflac coverage by mail. The agent took our address and said she would send the information.

  1. Hello,
My name is Carmen Mireles. I am a insurance agent who was considering working with Aflac. Went on line filled out all the become a agent information and waited. Not one single person has contacted me. It has been more then a week now. Tried calling phone numbers cant seem to connect with any one. Makes me wonder if this is what the Aflac customer has to go through. Gives me second thoughts if this is a company I can take pride in…… I will see how far this gets……Have a great Day !!

  2. Im interisted in term life for 20 tp 30 yrs at least 50,000 im 57 non smoker i live in gladwin michigan thank you georgann

  3. I have been waiting on hold for over 15 minutes to get a mailing address to pay my bill policy P6375547. Please respond if you want this bill paid.

  4. I’m really wanting to cancel my insurance and I can’t find an email address to email anyone. Can you please help me out with that?

    • very unhappy with the service trying to cancel my policy and no one seems to respond even after talking to a representative who told me they were going to send me a letter and the form to fill out for my cash out payment.

    • AFLAC is almost impossible to email claims dispute to. no response at all.AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Denied payment because I didn’t seek treatment within 72 hrs. of accident. thought I bruised my knee because of swelling and pain/ need new knee/ PAYMENT DENIED!!!
      VERY DISAPPOINTED

  5. VERY disappointed in phone service. I have tried several phone calls and sites to get a fax number to fax my claim form. Please email me the fax number. It may be time to drop this policy as each year it is difficult to get the fax number and then wait weeks for the check.

  6. Called customer service. Got lady with horrible attitude saying that “we don’t pay that far in advance” even though my doctor filled out paperwork for “at least 90 days” that I would be out, and they paid me for less than that. She was condescending and very insincere, which is OK except she treated me like garbage. I am glad I had it but if there were alternatives I would go elsewhere. I can’t imagine Warren Buffet would think her attitude is unacceptable but perhaps that is the culture. What a terrible person to deal with!

    • Aflac will only pay up to 2 months worth of disability in advance regardless of what your doctor says. Things can change. After the first 2 months, a continuing claim must be filed. Much easier than the initial claim.

  7. i sent my wellness form in a month ago but i have not
recieved my check let me know if you got it it was for my mammogram

  8. Called local agent and left phone number to call me back. No response. This happens a lot. No return call. Aflac will take my money but can’t take the time to call me. Good thing this isn’t an emergency. Bill

  9. I am very unhappy with Aflac!!! I have tried calling 5 different Aflac offices here in traverse city, Michigan. No answer or call back from any of them!!!!

  10. I called Customer Service, but was not pleased with the automatic phone system. After about two tries, I get thru to a person, Ms. Michelle. I was very pleased with her demeanor. She was very cordial and helpful. She was also very informative. Thank you, Michelle.

  11. We are in the process of changing banks. Currently, AFLAC drafts our bank for payment of cancer policy. Please notify me as to the steps I need to provide to update this information.
    Thanks,
    Cheryl

  12. I have tried twice now to cancel my policy and they keep coming up with the excuse that it is out of the open enrollment period. So they tell me when I can I tried again and was told the same thing. This is a bunch of crap and I am tired of being screwed by these people. I have been lied to over and over and am sick and tired of it. They do not care about there customers. All they care about is making sure you are screwed!! I they say you can cancel within certain conditions and we have those and are still told we cant. I am Pissed beyond belief. I will make sure and let anyone and everyone know what I think of this company and will blast it all over the internet and wherever I can. I hope they get exposed for the rip off people they are.

    • Open enrollment periods are assigned time periods when changes and additions can be made to existing PRE-TAX insurance policies.

That is an IRS regulation (Section 125) and is the trade-off for the pre-tax savings. It has NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH AFLAC, nor any other insurance company as they ALL must comply.

      It’s the LAW.

  14. Terrible service. I faxed my claim on May 14,it was not processed until May 20, supposedly mailed out on May 21, today is
May 27 so i called once again. Was told it could take as long as
    14 days from May 21.

  15. Seriously, UR commercials R telling people U R cheating them…. Is that what U want ppl to think about Aflac??? U actually paid for these ads??

  16. I have filed numerous claims on Accident policy and no response. Accident June,24,2014. Dr.visits, PT,Surgery, PT and would like to know why I have not heard a word from Aflac. Have had this for years. Please respond to this.

  17. The last time I filed a claim all I had to do to check on the claim was dial an 800 number and use my touch pad to get the information. Now it seems you have changed your method and I have to yell into the phone to get the information from a recording. Have you changed your number or did you just do away with the automated way. Sure did like the automated way and would like to be able to use it again.

  18. Phone service is not easy lots of prompts however our agent tori zaniol is wonderful and on his game 150%
    Thank you

  19. My claims have always been sent on time and done within a week and we have 4 people on our policy
I have no doubt in aflacs behind the Scenes efforts and with our agents assistance through all the claims

  20. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH IT ALL, OUR OFFICE WAS LIED TO ABOUT HOW MUCH WOULD BE TAKEN OUT OF A PAY CK…THEN A ASSOCIATE CAME TO TALK TO US ABOUT 3MO AGO, WHEN WE WERE PLANING TO CXL BUT ONLY TO TALK US INTO KEEPING IT…TODAY THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO SHOW UP AND CXL’D.

  21. I do not understand all the bad reviews. I have had a Cancer policy and a accident policy with Aflac for over 15 years now. My wife has used the cancer policy about 10 times now used the accident policy 2 times, and used the wellness program ever year. NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM PAYING IN A TIMELY MANOR. We have never had a problem with any service and am amazed at there cooperation when calling to see if I am covered and what forms I need.I highly recommend Aflac to any one looking for extra coverage.Patients.courtesy and filing the right forms will get a better response.

  22. I had a cancer policy when I worked at The Norton Agency in Gainesville, GA. I left their employment in April, 2014 for a new opportunity. I just realized they did not give me information on my cancer policy to continue the coverage. Is it possible to pay the past due premiums and continue it?

  23. My wife purchased a plan through aflac for herself and me.I was hospitalized last mo.th and have been to several doctors and had several surgeries… yet to be paid bye aflac for any of them. You guys r nothing but a bunch of scammers and con artists. U hire sales reps who do nothing but lie and cheat to make a sale and then u sit back and say its not your fault. You hire people to sale a product and then you do NOT honor what you’re selling. I own only 4 billboards and I have them rented at this time but I PROMISE that as soon as they are blank. I CAN and WILL plaster my complaints publicly along with anyone else who has had problems with you lying cheating thieving assholes. I have nothing to lose!!!!!

  24. WOW! Obscene comments regarding your Customer Service complete with that terrible phrase “horrible attitude.” At least you’re honest with you policy holders but if anyone reads these comments BEFORE signing up you’re in deep grease.

What I think Aflac needs to do is to bring a Customer Relations and Satisfaction expert in on a consultant basis for at least a year, for a company your size. Don’t skimp on his fee either. This should cost Aflac plenty, as it will pay handsome dividends.

What really needs to happen is for each Vice President to leave your building and go down the street and call your company with a difficult, but fair, question. See what they think of their experience.

No company of any stature would allow these problems to continue for one more day!

I have no complaints, I was just trying to find how to change my address in your system

  25. I am having a horrible time with AFLAC. Last year I was considering offering this service to our company of 240 people; however after my personal experience nightmare, this will not be happening. As of today, I was told that we need to resubmit paperwork every 7 days because we have weekly chemotherapy appointments. And once they get our paperwork every 7 days, they have 5 days to submit it to an auditor, who has another 3 days to call my doctor, then they have another few days to approve and reinstate the claim. What?!!!!!

  26. Another AFLAC complaint. The customer service reps are not trained properly. I get a different person and different instructions every time I call. The reps will not give me their last name. It reminds me of that budget hair salon. Over the last 9 months I have spoken with: Chloe, David, Janet, Cheryl, Jeff, Heather, Brittney, Marcy, Debra, Heather, Lisa, Ashley, Linda, Rebecca, Antony, and Pia. None of them have given me the same instructions on what to do. It’s amazing!!

  27. Folks, what I am reading is not typical of AFLAC and is usually a communication error. It is best to get your agent involved to help you with claims, etc.
As example, the lady Stacy misunderstands. She gets a weekly benefit for the Chemo. She can save these up and submit several at a time. No need to do weekly if that was her concern. AFLAC pays and pays quickly Stacy, please contact your agent or the local AFLAC office. We can help. I say the same to all of the other people. I’m sorry you are having problems, and I think an agent can help you.
    Thanks,

  28. Doing a term paper on your company. If you can please send me as much information on your company as posiable. I would greatly appreciate it.

  29. To all with complaints, if you post a complaint with the better business bureau AFLAC will make amends. Make your efforts count.

  30. The reason you can’t cancel your policy is because customer service is so well train . I work for city and was injured on the job and needed surgery, after surgery I needed pt. I sent in a claim for physical therapy ten visit at $50.00 per visit that $500.00 . Aflac customer service said my claim was rejected because I did not start therapy within 30 days of accident. Aflac expect you to have physical therapy before you have surgery . Also anyone that work for city should not enroll with Aflac because Aflac know that city take a long time to get any authorization for treatment so they used that time delay to reject payment. Someone wrote Aflac needs better customer service training, wrong they are very trained in rejecting payment . Also it not a accident that phone service is so bad it meant to get you so angry you rip the phone off the wall , they are well trained in the Aflac scam. That what Aflac is a scam. I am hoping enough of people get together and start a law suit . Also the sale rep. sell you on large payment amt. but when you put in a claim customer serviced they tell the sale rep. was wrong the payment amt. is much smaller. Wrong I don’t think so they very well trained in the Aflac scam.

  32. Hey Tara J I agreed with everything you wrote I work for the city as well, worker comp. take forever to get authorization for treatment and Aflac used that delay to reject my payment . I agree Aflac is a scam and will cancel my policy . I read it very hard to cancel once they have there hands in your pocket. Anyone that work for the city contact someone in payroll. I will bet that someone in payroll got rip off by Aflac as well.

  33. my husband went in the hospital had surgical and anesthesia and stay in intensive care for 7 days in the hospital he is a VA veteran and I think it is wrong for Aflac to take their money all these and when we need the money you all don’t Aflac new we cant get any codes or anything we have being paying you all why cant you all get the codes why are we paying you all for if we are the one doing the work all I know is they are not going to pay anything so next stop is the better business bureau and lawyer up and cancel the policy I think you everyone get their money back

  34. After suffering a brain aneurysm, 9 hr. brain surgery and 2 mos. in nursing home I received a check from Aflac for $38,000.00. Yes I had to get my paperwork together but, just send in all the Eombs. I was really happy with the duck! To the people above, the veteran’s hospital should have the paperwork for you.Ask the
Billing office for copies of medical billing statements.

    • I’m sorry to hear you had to suffer so, Kathleen. That sounds awful!

However, I’m glad to hear you understood the filing process and got your benefits. In my experience, it’s often policy-holders who are to “blame” for denied/pended claims. They should indeed get an agent to help them – for the first few claims, at least, so they understand what is needed for a claim to be approved.

Now, that said, AFLAC agents are individuals – and are not actually employees. Please, understand that sometimes a person looks great on paper, but once hired, turns out to be a dunce! That happens in any/every field and, sadly, insurance is not exception.

Please, if you choose to file on your own, make sure you have the proper claim form FOR YOUR PARTICULAR STATE _AND_ POLICY. Fill t out COMPLETELY and be sure to have all accompanying documentation in order. No insurance company in the world will pay a claim w/o a billing statement from your care provider. You should also include doctor’s notes because there may be benefits for things you are enduring that will not be listed on an itemized bill (Accident Policy, in particular). Follow up exams/treatments, lab reports, surgeon’s reports, et al, are ALL important and it’s better to provide too much information/documentation than not enough!

AFLAC pays claims. They ARE NOT in business to rip people off. There are, however, standards for filing which must be met and AFLAC is NOT unique in that requirement.

Thank you for understanding and, again, I would urge anyone/everyone to use a trained agent for their first few claims – even with the new online, next-day-pay options. It might just save a lot of headaches for everyone involved.

  35. It’s been over a month that I filed a claim. Still, the hospital hasn’t got a call or request from aflac regarding my medical records.. I have called over 10 Times and haven’t got no where.. I informed my aflac agent and she is also trying to get things sped up… poor customer service. ……

  36. I faxed 13 pages of documentation about my hospitalization falling and pulmonary embolism as the diagnosis. Every time I talked to an Aflac person in the “call center” I was told different documents to provide Aflac. Finally, after continuously asking for a claims person, I talked to several Clsims Representatives. Again, I feel Aflac pays only certain people and I do not fit in the specific group. Now, Aflac wants a Univeral ..,, and clearly on the claim form it does not say that Utb4…. I am distressed because the Claims rep. Was rude and hung up on me. I was hospitalized through the emergency room and Intensive Care. Could someone help me? Feeling as though I am not valued as a customer.

  37. Rude customer reps, hung ups and no one tells you the same thing. I have never had such horrible customer service, but every two weeks they get my money with no problem,. It’s been a week since my last call, even my AFLAC agent has called no response, was told somebody would call. Utterly disgusted.

  38. I had to call into get info on submitting a claim and both of the ladies I talked to was wonder. Like talking to a friend on the phone.

  39. Excellent ideas – I loved the specifics , Does someone know where my business might find a sample AFLAC NY Cancer Screening Wellness Benefit Claim Form form to use ?

  40. I filed a cancer report on july 14 . isent the pathology report and a itemized bill iwas only paid 100 dollar for sevices that should have been close to 700dollars what happen to them not looking at the policies payout plan as I have had this policy for 26 years. I expect to hear from Aflac soon

  41. I need to get a fax number to send an application for reinstatement of my Cancer Policy. I received the form by email but do not find a fax number. Please let me know how to send it to B Stringer in Columbus, GA. Thank you. Gretchen Vandewater

  42. I am actually seeking legal advice. Aflac is supposed to be there when you need them. I’ve had surgery and been out of work for 7 weeks. My claim was denied. Definitely not the AFLAC they promised me when I signed on 7 years ago. I will definitely make it known to my co workers and other people in the profession that this insurance company is the wrong choice for supplemental insurance.

  43. I recently received from AFLAC the portal address for submitting claims from outside the U.S. but due to a computer crash I don’t have the address. All the forms I have attempted to use are only accessible if one lives in the U.S. Could you please provide me with the claim portal for those living outside the U.S.?

  44. Sept. 24, 2018 Morning. Called the Claims number. Left callback for response promised in approx. 90 minutes. None in full day! Called local reps. Could not help.
Sept 25, 2018 Morning. Called Claims number. Opted to hold. Waited 55 minutes. Nothing. Called back. Left callback. Promised 105 min. Waited entire day. Nothing!! Reached an answering service who “Confided” a direct number:706 569 7005. Tried. “No longer in service”. Whats going on? Are they out of business? Tried more local reps. No value.
