When you visit the NJ Unemployment website http://lwd.dol.state.nj.us/labor/aboutlwd/contact/lwdstaffcontacts.html, there are several options to choose from, including, filing a claim, reopening a claim, checking the status off a claim, adjusting a direct deposit, claiming your weekly benefits, changing contact information and printing a 1099. In order to access this information, you will need to register at your local unemployment office. After registering, you have complete access to the website. The only relevant social media page relating to NJ Unemployment was Twitter. This page provided information relating to state affairs as well as an outlet to voice concerns. The average response time to questions was less than 15 minutes.

Customer Service Email

There was several email addresses listed on the website, but only one pertaining to NJ Unemployment. We sent a message to the customer service team asking for information relating to Tier IV unemployment benefits. In particular, we wanted to know when the benefits are due to expire. After sending our message, we received an automated response stating customers should contact their local NJ Unemployment insurance office.

Our Experience

Reaching the NJ Unemployment was quite a task. We called the main number and when we reached the operator, our call was transferred. This occurred several times before we reached the customer service department. The representative explained that they were limited with the amount of information they could discuss, but were willing to answer select questions. The questions related to filing clams online and in-office. The agent assisted us and by the end of the call addressed our concerns. The overall experience was great, but what about you?
