Contacting MCI Customer Service Center
MCI is one of the few phone companies out there that still sells only landline service. The company is owned by Verizon, as indicated by the copyright at the bottom of the main website. When we clicked the link for the About US page we were taken to the information page for the Verizon company, not MCI. MCI does not list a specific service area so the company could offer support for home phone lines in the same areas covered by Verizon Wireless.

Despite the fact that MCI is clearly associated with Verizon, all the web links for customer service pages and phone numbers are marked as MCI numbers. Customer service hours are not listed, but we called and learned the customer service department is available from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. EST.

Being as MCI is a Verizon company, you can contact the customer service department by mail using the Verizon address. This contact address should be used as a last resort because there could be some confusion if the mailroom workers don’t know that MCI is a subsidiary of Verizon. Phone and email contact are the best means of reaching MCI customer service.

Customer Service Email
You can send a message to the customer service department using the Contact US form http://consumer.mci.com/customer_service/ContactUs.jsp on the MCI website. The form is very general, so you don’t need to fill in tons of personal or account information to communicate with an agent. MCI promises a response to all customer service emails within 24 hours, so we put this promise to the test. Some companies send out a blanket email response just to fulfill that promise and others actually send a personal response. We’ll let you know how MCI does.
When you call MCI customer service the call is answered as MCI not Verizon. We tried to pass through the system by pressing 0, but we were forced to answer all the automated questions. When we finally made it to the customer service agent we asked for the call center hours, which should have been an easy question, but the agent stuttered and stumbled a bit before placing us on hold. After a few seconds he picked up the call and told us the MCI call center was available from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. EST.
