Our Experience

If customers do not know there policy number, they will wait longer to speak to a customer service representative. The average wait time is less than 2 minutes. The agent was pleasant and appeared ready to assist us with our concerns. We inquired about penalties associated with cancelling an insurance policy. The agent explained customers will not incur a penalty, if their policy is up-to-date. They may need to pay the final bill, prior to cancelling an insurance policy.

  1. I am having difficulty in getting the lien
    holders address added to my auto policy.Their name is their
    but the address must also show. They have numerous offices and the address is very important. Until it shows they cannot accept this as meeting normal requirements for insurance. I sent another email this morning and hope it
    will be processed as requested.
    YOUR CLAIM SERVICE IS EXCEPTIONAL (If the customer knows what they are doing and catch anything out of line).
    Policy service so-so….Employees always very nice.

  2. Have called them 3 times today with regard to an auto claim. I gave up….each time I was on hold for 30 minutes and never spoke to a live person. I called the customer service # for policy services to see if I could get through to a different dept. Was advised that there are typically 100 people in queue waiting to speak with someone – and this is for an existing claim. Liberty Mutual just lost my business and I would advise everyone I know to stay away from them. Oh, the bonus is that every 30 seconds I have an automated attendant telling me how important my call is to them. I don’t think so.

    • I agree with the comments posted on May 6 2014 regard to an auto claim.
      I am not Liberty mutual insurance client. Theirs client had backed into my car on 6/14/2016. I’ve been told to contact the person who will handle the claim name shawnta Dorsey after day and half of trying to speak w/ library multual insurance, all I get was the automate answering machines. Finally I got a hold of the phone number of the person who will handle the claim. I’ve left messages again and again for her to please return my called.
      It is 6/19/16, 6 days minus two days weekend. I’m still waiting for the claim person to return my called. What a dragged!!!

  3. Maryann Stein is the worst nurse case manager. She works as a workmens comp nurse out of your Portland office. When I asked for assistance she told me “I’m not sending someone to Clean your house”! I just wanted help with showering. This person in not professional or qualified to assist someone just out of the hospital. If your reputation as an insurance company isn’t that great it’s because of employees like her.

After numerous calls and messages I still haven’t talk to anyone about my Denied claim of 413.00 I think I should have been contacted by now this happened in early November I was told to take my car to your adjusters in Blue Ash Ohio car star I did that Saturday morning and Monday I received a denial letter so my denial letter was sent prior to Saturday so I wasted a trip to blue ash from the get go. I have documentation I was involved in that accident my car was towed from the scene approx. 1 mile from the scene wear my car was smoking the sheriff department stop and asked me what was wrong and I stated to him I hit some pieces on the road from the accident. I gave the old Radiator to the car star employee I thought the oil pan was punctured It was the transmission lines from the radiator thank you

  9. So far, so good. I switched from “double-billing” Allstate and although I have yet to deal with claims service (hope I never have to), I am satisfied.

    BTW, Allstate keeps dunning me for payment even though I cancelled. Go figure, right?

    I recently wrote to you about an accident I had caused by one of your insureds.
    I did not feel your settlement of this was fair. I received a check for what was claimed to be the book value of my car. It would not cover repairs. I received nothing for thr hours I spent with police, claims agents, repair companies or for the discomfort from a whip lash injury to my neck and shoulder. The injury was not severe but I have only just gotten over the soreness. I also eMailed you last week in a site you said was always covered by a response. I heard nothing.

    I felt a settlement of $3500 would have been fair…at least I could continue to drive my car safely.

  14. In March I received a bill for auto insurance for $614, due shortly thereafter. I paid the bill online to avoid jeopardizing my coverage, then contacted Liberty Mutual because I usually pay in January (done) and July. Liberty Mutual said that bill was meant for someone else with the same name living at a different address and the money would be returned to my account. A week later, no money returned. I called Liberty Mutual representative– she suggested possibly money was returned to the wrong persn, requested copy of bank statement; bank statement sent, week later, no money returned. Called Liberty Mutual today– statement was received, request is being “processed.” And this isn’t even a claim– this is my own money!

  16. This is the second year I have sent 2 checks one for my home and one for my auto insurance. Each check was sent with the proper paperwork indicating what it was intended to pay. Again I have received a refund as an over payment. I will not cash it and resend my check as I did last year. I am a customer not an employee of Liberty Mutual. This has not gone unrecognized when chatting with friends. Either advise me to return your check or you stop payment and apply it to my Home Owners Insurance. Reply expected post haste.

  17. Your TV ad suggests that Liberty Mutual is the only company that provides roadside assistance. We all know that all major auto insurance companies will provide roadside assistance at a nominal premium from $5 to $8 per semi-annual premium. You are embellishing this ad to provide an unfavorable position to your competition. A letter of complaint to the Florida Department of Financial Services is forthcoming.

  18. I have been a Customer since 2005. Home, three autos and a motorcycle. This year my motorcycle ins was terminated without notice due to a missing form, (certifying I am a NH resident). Had I not decided to alter my policy I never would have known I was driving without insurance. 15 years you have insured my home and autos and now you ask me to certify my residence status in NH.

    I call this Customer Prevention, not Customer Service. On learning of the issue I tried contacting my local office only to be forwarded to a 1-800 person from AZ. Only when I asked for sales did I reach a person who determined I wanted customer service and sloughed me off again.

    I get it, competition is tough and you need to remain competitive. However this level of nonsense earned you what you asked for….. a lost customer.

I have been a customer of Liberty Mutual for several years now and have never have had such bad experience Liberty with no claims or tickets for over 16 years ,luckily my wife she check our bank account appear Liberty Mutual Insurance drown over$1800 without notice to us that the rate went up on us $500 from normal rate witch is around $1200 ,when I spoke to as to there customer service I ask about the commercial they have on TV that we can save you over $800 her response was not grantee I ask here why don’t say that on TV she cant answer

  23. you all have no idea how handle these things, i delt with probems where inshace refused to pay, what u want surch for is corpert compilance officer, next u file compant with state inshuace, next u copy bouth the complant with policy number and all relavent information, by most state law they must respon in no less 15 days,
    if they do not state steps in and this one thing they dont want becuase they get fine big dollers, my clame was for over 300k nor it takes 30 days resove it taken us 90 days, and huge reason why was some one change the policy, and forge names,
    i had to agree not go after the agent wich i felt wrong but we had cost had be paid,
    i not lawyer, but i hadle 3 estates , i taken on city, and i taken on ebay paypal
    it is all in who u talk to and how u talk to them, if u all take my advice u will get things fix, u just got talk to top dogs, them people at bottom nothing u talk people at headcorders heads speen they do not like complants and they will rezove them, becuase once u get state involed they have no other choice,

    policy. Much to my surprise 2 of your listed possible discounts were not
    available in Nevada: Secured Communuty Discount and Insured to Value Discount. No
    available explamation. Any chance of extending these discounts to your Nevada customers. Thank you

  32. Daughter had a wreck on 6th of Dec 2018. The at fault drivers ins was AmFam. I decided to the my inc co Liberty mutual handle it. Started the claim on the 12th of Dec, it’s now the 4th of Jan and no check, No reason it should take almost a month to get this simple auto claim played out. 2 weeks Tops!! Looks like I may need to go back to GFB!

It seems you only market silly commercials to those that don’t use their brain to buy insurance..Your slogan only pay for what you need is so insulting..Why would anyone who has a brain buy insurance they don’t need?? Just young people who think you are really offering them something. You”re missing the target of many more buyers. I am trying to be constructive here. It is as if you, Geico, progressive are trying to outdo each other on silliness. As a mature buyer, I only get irritated and change the channel. Your latest commercial with the child kicking his Christmas present, a bike, is particularly offensive. What message does that send..a horrible one..
