Our Experience

When calling E*TRADE, you are required to enter your account number of social security number. After waiting for less than 30 seconds, the system transfers customers to a live representative. We waited for an additional 5 minutes prior to speaking to a customer care agent. When the representative answered our call, we began to inquire about the available products and services. The agent was knowledgeable about the brand and answered our concerns promptly.

Overall, our experience was good, but this may be the exception. When you needed to speak with a customer service representative, did you have the same outcome? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. Hi,I have received a letter concerning my account and refer to case n.22921859621356 concerning User id,passeword and passcode as well.I would like to close down my account and not to transfer to another broker but just liquidate and close down my account and request transfer for all my positin.

  2. I trade with E*trade Australia, account # 61369737. I hold some shares in FIO:NYSE, which I understand has been recently taken over by another company, with no option to obtain shares in the new owner. I have had no notification about this, and would like to know when the proceeds are likely to be credited to my account.

  3. I haven’t got an account with this organisation called e*trade, and I have no intention of having one – but they have just sent me an email saying my email addresse has been changed, and to let them know if that’s a mistake. But they don’t gave any email I can contact without having an account with them. Fortunately my email foes still seems to be working, but it sounds as if someone else has been using it. Who the hell are these people sending out lying emails without allowing us to send them email to correct things?

    • My brother died in August, 2015, leaving investments in e-Trade and Wells Fargo that he invested during his employment at Lowe’s Company. He also had investments at Fidelity Co. My sister and I were equal beneficiaries and began within a few months to liquidate his assets. We had absolutely no trouble doing so at Wells Fargo and Fidelity. However, at eTrade, everything has been absolutely terrible and still continues even after all these months. In February, 2016, an Estate Account Application, a Certified Death Certificate, an IRS Letter assigning an Employee Identification Number and Certified Estate paperwork naming his heirs were mailed to eTrade as required. An attorney had been hired to obtain the EIN number from the IRS and Letters Testament from the court stating that my sister and I were Co-Independent Executrixes of his estate. After finally obtaining the required documents, the Estate Account Application was completed and mailed to e-Trade along with the IRS letter, Letters Testamentary and Certificate of Death. However, these documents were not sufficient for eTrade to open an estate account and eventually to transfer stock and monies to our individual accounts. After eTrade received these documents, they required copies of my sister’s social security card and driver’s license. I subsequently opened a personal account, as required, but just learned today that eTrade closed it because of inactivity on the account. Numerous telephone calls were made from February 2016 to today, June 27, 2016, to get transfers made. When I called eTrade today, I was told to open another account online and then to transfer funds from the estate account to my personal account. I completed the account application but transfer of stock and monies could not be completed. When I called eTrade AGAIN today, I was told to get a Notary document stating that my sister and I agreed with equal distribution of the estate account. I spoke with a supervisor and explained the whole situation but he too insisted on a Notary statement. Something is extremely wrong here with eTrade, so tomorrow I shall do what I should have done months ago, tell my attorney to check into eTrade’s policies and procedures.
