This program provides a phone to qualified individuals for emergency purposes. Customers that qualify receive a free phone, 250 talk minutes and 250 texts per month. To date, Assurance Wireless provides service to more than 280 million customers. Social Media

If you cannot connect with the customer service department through email, phone or traditional mail, we recommend utilizing social media. The reason is the response time. When we visited the various social media pages, we noticed the customer service department responded to customer concerns within two (2) hours.

Customer Service Email

There is only one email address listed on the website. We sent a message to the customer service department asking for information relating to the hours of operation. This information was not available on the website. After sending our message, we received an immediate response stating the customer care team would respond no later than three (3) business days after receiving our message.

Our Experience

When we contacted the customer service department, we were able to speak directly with a live agent in less than 90 seconds. We were able to bypass the automated system by immediately pressing three (3). After the agent answered the call, we asked several questions relating to additional charges and fees. The customer service agent explained the fee structure if customers choose to add additional minutes to their account. We expected the agent to refer us to the website, but the knowledge and information was welcome. Have you had to contact the customer service department? We want to hear your story.   1. yesterday I had the worst time with this company topped up 5dollars talked 2 min text 8 times it cost me 5.50 took my whole debt how dose that take all my funds at 10 cent per min or text?? this a Government program I have in the US Army got some raw deals but this!! takes the CAKE

Hi, I C about 4 messages on my phone concerning service from joseph, rep etc and yes I give him a 5, I not good on trying to reply, but yes very satisfied how everything is. this is to acknowledge ur messages sent, as I never use texting,and thanks again for help on annual certification. also sent a letter in mail to verify thanks again will delete the ones on phone.

  5. I got smart phone from assurance wireless about two months ago, and I was
    having some problems with phone. I contacted the customer service and
    person was unable to assistant me and told me she will have somebody
    return my phone call. I waited two days, and called back the lady told me if
    I was able to make phone call and text than she could not replace my phone.
    I decided to talk to the supervisor and he said he will call me on my home phone
    to trouble shoot the problem, please know by this time I was very distressed
    about the whole situation, nobody called me back. I called back and the guy
    was threatening me that he will cancel my service because I have been calling
    many times. Please know that company didn’t want to help or replace the phone
    which wasn’t working properly. The last guy who was giving me warning said
    he will send me another phone. I will see if this is true or not. I want you to
    know that this experience shook me up and made me question my ability to communicate with these people in more civilized manner. I never had any good
    customer service with this company.

  6. I have had Assurance wireless / Virgin Mobile for 3 years with no problem until I needed help, so I called Customer Service, They were very hard to understand,very impatience, and VERY RUDE, I got so frustrated with them ,I said to cancel my service and I’ll just find another company

  7. this is absolutely the worse service you can get (wouldn’t recommend it to my worse enemy) you can rarely reach you number without getting messages like , all lines are busy, and you are unauthorized, called customer support and they refferd me to a different number, 800 800 1500 this is a phone sex number, what a joke this company is!!

    t have more than one government phone. We all got disinrolled from Safelink. None of the phones worked at all. She just out and out lied to us. I want to be taken off this plan and I mean now. Your employees need to learn to tell the truth.

  9. I don’t look a gift-horse in the mouth. The problem is that the American tax-payer foots the bill for Obama-phones. They are totally getting screwed. Me, I’d rather use tin cans and a string. It would be much easier than trying to communicate with people whom speak languages other than English. I think I will contact AT&T today and get a real phone.

  11. I just got off my land based phone with customer service, I was requesting a new charger for my cell phone because the wire on the charger was almost broke into and would not charge my phone. The customer rep insisted that I take the back off the cell phone and rub a pencil eraser across the battery connecter. I kept telling her that there was not anything wrong with the phone, that i needed a new charger..I know that I was on the phone for almost an hour or more. Then she connected me to another service rep to order a charger and that took another 20 minutes or so. He finally told me that he ordered a charger for me and I would receive it Monday or Tuesday, I am a senior and this ordeal made me very stressed out. I hope I do not have to call again. Also, I think you need to have reps that can speak and understand English.I hope I will have better service in the future. Have a Blessed Day.

  13. I realize you’re providing phones to those less fortunate but giving sup-par phones and poor customer service is unacceptable. They don’t need anything fancy, just functional communication devices.

    • I want to say that I am so glad that I choose Assurance Wireless as my cellphone company. I have been without a cellphone since February 19, 2017 and the companies that I was with previously and past have been nothing but a headache. Assurance has it going on you are efficient, good service and you are in touch with your customers. Thank you for being there for me. Your turn around time was done in a timely manner and I thank you for that and I thank you again.   16. I received A phone at the beginning of the year. It is hard to shut off, and make calls. bars on phone are surprisingly low.
    Trying to exchange the phone, and plus change phone numbers. The phone # will take some time I guess going to computer to do that.
    Hey I have heard from others complain about language, and the ability to listen to what thy are saying..
    Well you might not like what I have to say here, BUT
    1) Open your ears and be patient. ( This is what the associates helping you are doing.). You need to slow down when you speak, and speak clear.
    2) Some say customer service. Well it takes two to cause a problem. It is favoring a upset person causing the problem (customer) talking to someone that is just wanting to help. cells that are trying to give you a deal BE PATIENT.
    They have rules just like you, They might be new on the job, and learning.
    Cutting cost is hard in joy what you have.

  25. I agree with customer #1. I purchased minutes on Oct. 21, 2017. I made 5 calls that total to 10 minutes. That would equal to $1.00. I did not make complete any texts messages because I was motoring my usage. I contacted Amy on Oct. 30 to rectify the problem to no avail.

  28. Speaking with a rep is the most frustrating and difficult thing I have ever done!!!!
    I was sent a notice 1/29/18 that my phone was shipped but I have yet to receive it.
    You received my Lifeline form…
    Getting back on the phone will be just one more nightmare. It is difficult to hear because everyone in the background is yelling, and last time I went through the process, I was hung up on three times. Now what do I do to get my Assurance phone mailed to me?

  38. On 12/4/2017 I returned my phone to Sprint, On 12/16/2017 I received an E-mail
    telling me that a credit was applied for returned equipment. In February I received
    a bill for $201.00. I called Sprint Corporate and after I lengthy conversation we
    settled for $110.00 and I was told my account would be cancelled.Two month later I received another bill which I refused to pay and it was sent to a collection
    agency.
    The last bill I received was for the billing period June 11 – July 10.

    What is it you people do not get? I HAVE NOT HAD A PHONE SINCE DECEMBER 4, 2017 AND I DO NOT WANT TO GET ANY MORE BILLS.

    I HAVE CALLED SPRINT AT LEAST 10 TIMES AND ALL I GET IS THE

    RUNAROUND. THEY REFER ME TO ASSURED WIRELESS AND IT IS

    IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ANYONE TO SPEAK TO. THIS IS SOME RACKET YOU

    • I called twice. The first gentleman had a really hard time understanding my name and zip code. He first told me I had had no account there. Then he hung up on me.
      I called again. The second gentleman took care of the situation FINE.

  39. I received a detected phone ! It got very hot !it told me that the battery needed to be charged but when I plugged it in it says it couldn’t charge it was to hot !! Called customer service -1st time told call back !2-nd time I was walked thru a shutdown process of my internet , Facebook etc.And now has a glorified phone the still got hot ! Was told a box Was now it’s way the 3rd time I called and it would be replaced !! Still waiting !!! Lol 4th time while talking with you the phone got so hot it burnt my ear ! Causing me to drop the phone and it cracked the screen !!! And now was told you won’t replace it because of a broken screen !! I understand Tec.support they were good helping me but the phone was screwed up from Day One when I got it FROM YOU and you have me every excuse you could! Now if I want a phone I have to buy one ! Or wait until November ! Customer service was not helpful at all and I just got a letter to re-certify tell me ??? Where do I CLICK on to Annual Certification.

  42. I recently received the cell phone for my lifeline account. Sadly the phone was malfunctioning. After notifying Assurance by phone they said that I would get a replacement phone. It’s been about a month and I have yet to receive. I called 611 and spoke to technical support, and on three separate calls they said that I should get the phone in 3 to 5 days, they all guaranteed that I would have it by then, and still “nothing” If you check my account there should be a record of the dates of all my calls. I am a single male of 68yrs. I live alone, I need the phone for all my doctor appointments, it’s vital. Please send me my phone, PLEASE

  47. I received my new phone about 2 weeks ago and to this point I have not been able to use it. No amount of trying to figure it out, myself and several others.I can not hear the voice even turned up high, Can not find out how to make or receive calls. These are just few of the problems. Why was there no instruction booklet sent with the phone?I am very very unhappy having a phone that I am unable to use.In spite of the problems with my old phone at least I could depend on it in an emergency and at this point think I would like to have the old phone turned back on.   48. I received my new smart phone about 1 week ago, I am not computer savvy and the phone didn’t come with a booklet giving instructions. My other phone did, it wasn’t a smart phone and had no problem with it. I can’t call for assistance as the signal is almost zero. I didn’t get much help when I first got the phone. I don’t know what the problem is. I don’t have anyone to help me. I am very frustrated and upset.

I asked to be dropped and they still would not cancel my service because I didn’t have a code. How stupid is that . Assurance wireless need to do better!   61. I had an assurance phone for 7 years (a flip phone) never a problem. Last year it stopped charging. I asked for another battery. They did not have a replacement and sent me a “smart phone”. I am on my FOURTH phone. The phone freezes on me or overheats or the functions stop. I have had the last phone for only THREE weeks. It is telling me Launcher has stopped, user dictionary has stopped (didn’t know I had one) my contacts are gone and I can not send texts. The last time I spoke to tech support (after waiting 40 minutes on hold) I could barely understand him. I am going to go to another company. It is not worth worrying if I have a phone or not. I can’t afford it, but maybe my children will pay for one for me.
